In December while on a travelling preaching tour, HH Lokanath Swami Maharaja thought of a way in which Maharaja would be able to chant with devotees and lovers of the Holy Name from all around the world. This gave birth to the ‘Let’s Chant Together’ sessions.
They last for about an hour, roughly from 6am to 7am IST. The session includes chanting followed by instructions, realisations and answering of questions.

Social Distancing from worldly attitudes
Devotees are chanting from 740 locations. This is a lesser number. Some have become re-laxed or some have not yet received the new password, even after 2 days. See to it that you kindly inform those around you who have not got the information about the new password.
Are you all situated in bliss and happiness? Stay safe. Be in your homes. You are all get-ting information from various people, from the Prime Minister up to local administrative heads and from doctors from WHO. All are informing you about what is good for you, what are the do’s and don’ts. How to save ourselves from the fast spreading Coronavirus and how we should not get entangled in its bad effects. Be aware! All these notices which you are getting through various mediums like print media , electronic media , social media all are spreading awareness about it. Our happiness lies in knowing, understanding and following all this information. This is for your own benefit as well as for others’ benefit. There are some Hare Krishna devotees who profess that they don’t care about all these no-tices. Not only for yourself, but also for others and to take care of others you must follow these guidelines. Don’t be careless, be careful. Follow all the rules and regulations.

asat-saṅga-tyāga, — ei vaiṣṇava-ācāra
‘strī-saṅgī’ — eka asādhu, ‘kṛṣṇābhakta’ āra
“A Vaisnava should always avoid the association of ordinary people. Common people are very much materially attached, especially to women. Vaisnavas should also avoid the company of those who are not devotees of Lord Krsna. ( Caitanya-caritamrita , Madhya, 22.87)
How is the behaviour of a Vaisnava? He stays away from asat-sang, mayavi or illusory association of worldly people, from people desiring material satisfaction , liberation, mystic achievements etc. Those who stay away from such asat-sang are called Vaisnavas. This curse of the Coronavirus is also proving to be a ‘boon’, as we are automatically stay-ing away from such asat-sang. We should leave asat-sang, but satsang is a must.
‘sādhu-saṅga’, ‘sādhu-saṅga’ — sarva-śāstre kaya
lava-mātra sādhu-saṅge sarva-siddhi haya
The verdict of all revealed scriptures is that by even a moment’s association with a pure devotee, one can attain all success. ( Caitanya-caritamrita , Madhya, 22.54)
Sri Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu was conversing with Raya Ramanand. He enquired from him, ‘Which is the situation of real pain?’. Whatever Mahaprabhu wanted to explain he is getting it explained by Raya Ramanand. Raya Ramanand explained, “Not to get the associ-ation of devotees is the real painful situation.” We are not able to meet devotees. If we are not able to meet devotees, not get their association then it’s a painful situation. Stay at home. Like Krsna who never goes out of Vrndavana.
Vrndavana parityajj ekam padam na gachhati
Lord Krsna never a lifts a foot out of Vrindavan. He always likes to stay in Vrndavana.
You also don’t step out of the house at all. We will be unhappy not getting the association of devotees. But we are getting association in this way, like on this Zoom conference right now. We are getting association. “Utility is the principle!” All these electronic media, in-ternet social media, we are spiritualising the social media. Sitting at home we are getting association. Also apart from the japa and Japa-talk, all day long so many leaders are doing Katha, istagosti and even meetings are unstoppable. Some days back on Rama Navami, we had small meeting of our Bureau members. There is some planning being done for katha, kirtana and meetings. This all is possible I think all day long. If you search, you will get association. You can also take darsana on YouTube, Facebook etc. Audio and videos are available. I am also doing Katha in English in the evening. 5 parts are completed. Even though they are completed, they are not over as they are still available on YouTube. The katha is ‘Karunavatar Gaur Bhagwan’ in English. Besides me so many Kathakars and kir-taneers are narrating the glories of the Lord on the internet.
We all should take full advantage of this golden opportunity, as it’s a rare opportunity available to all of us. So exploit it fully.

Prabhodanand Saraswati has explained that Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared and vistirne prema-sagare, expanded the ocean of love. Due to Coronavirus everything is jammed. Traffic is at a halt. Everything is at a halt. People can’t move around at all. But in this situa-tion also this prema sagar is expanding even more and more. Waves and ripples of this prema sagar are spreading far and wide, through the medium of media. So many vibrations are being created through this media. Very easily we souls , hearers, and seers are benefit-ing. Yesterday we took such beautiful darsana of Lord Vitthala from Pandharpur on the internet even though the temple is closed. Tirupati Balaji darsana is also closed, but we are getting darsana through the internet. We are also getting darsana of devotees. We are doing sravana and kirtana. By this sarvatma snapanam is happening. We can immersed ourselves in this vistirne prema-sagare, Get immersed in this prema sagar. Get drowned in it. You won’t die, but you will be enlivened. Prananti. You will get a new life. Prab-hodanand Saraswati Thakur said,
avatirne gaura-candre vistirne prema-sagare, yena majyanti majyanti te maha anartha sagare
Currently ISKCON is making good association available to the whole world. Others are participating and fulfilling their roles, but then it also becomes your duty. You also have to put your share in it as per your capacity and facilities available. Everyone has to spread this prema sagar, spread these Kathas, kirtanas by way of preaching for ones own purifica-tion as well as.

kuta-stham acalam dhruvam
te prapnuvanti mam eva
But those who fully worship the unmanifested, that which lies beyond the perception of the senses, the all-pervading, inconceivable, fixed, and immovable-the impersonal con-ception of the Absolute Truth-by controlling the various senses and being equally dis-posed to everyone, such persons, engaged in the welfare of all, at last achieve Me. ( BG 12. 3 and 4)
For the benefit of all the souls as all the souls are our family members.They are our broth-ers and sisters. Devotees have such expanded vision. They are not low thinkers and low minded, but they have a broad vision, a vision for the future. A Krsna conscious person can have such broad vision because he carries the Lord in his heart. The Lord is situated in everyone’s heart, but those who perceive the Lord’s presence in their hearts, their heart becomes big and magnanimous as the Lord is residing in it. Then low mindedness is not possible at all. Persons become high thinkers. Have a vision for the future. Keeps the whole world in his heart.
Again back to what Prabhodanand Sarswati Thakur said , yena majyanti majyanti te maha anartha sagare
One is prema sagar and other is maha anartha sagar. This whole world is a maha anartha sagar. This is the experience now that we have come to the banks of this anartha sagar. We have made our home into a temple or Vaikuntha. Devotees have installed Deities or pic-tures of the Lord in the house. We have so many scriptures in our house. We have Tulasi Maharani. On the walls of our house we have pictures of the Lord and devotees of the Lord, and possibly some may even have a cow at home. We have a kitchen in the house which is dedicated to preparing bhoga for the Lord. Such is our home where after offering bhoga to the Lord, that is honoured as prasada. Although we are in this anartha sagar, we have reached the banks of this ocean. We have converted our home into a temple. The at-mosphere in the house, and our actions are Lord centred where lots of sravanam and kirta-nam is happening. If someone rings up, then we don’t say Hi!Hello! But we say Hare Krsna! Haribol! Our whole lifestyle is surcharged with Krsna consciousness. We dress ourselves in the way that the residents of Goloka or Vaikuntha do, not like Meri pataloon englisthan ki and juta Japan ka’ . We have thrown pataloon in the gutter. We are wearing dhoti now. We have thrown Jeans out. Women devotees drape themselves in sarees or like the attire of Gopis. Then even if we are in the house we have reached the bank of this anar-tha sagar, reached the beach. We were moving with the flow of this material world, but now have reached the shore. We don’t belong to this world, but being in the world so we are out of this world. We have become transcendental to this world, have surpassed the three modes of nature. We are different. We don’t belong to this world.
Sitting at home, this prema sagar of sravana kirtana is available to us. The whole world is in our hands if you have smart phones in your hands. Both are there. Prem sagar as well as maha anartha sagar is available through this medium of media. Be aware! It’s not that this social distancing that we have follow is just refraining from going out in society, to work etc, we have to distance ourselves from the peoples’ worldly attitude of watching movies and so many such unwanted things. All these things are also available on media. We have to also do distancing from such Maya – physically, mentally, vocally , kayen manasa vacha. ”The six divisions of surrender are: accepting those things favorable to
devotional service, rejecting unfavorable things, the conviction that Krsna will
give protection, accepting the Lord as one’s guardian or master, full self-
surrender, and humility.”( Hari bhakti Vilas , verse 11.417 by Srila Sanatan Goswami)
Whatever is favourable should be accepted and unfavourable should be discarded, Such determinations and options (sankalpa and vikalpa.) we have to opt for. In scriptures it is also said, ‘Heya and Upadheya’. Heya refers to things to be discarded and Upadheya things to be accepted.
Pray to the Lord that He bestows us with the right kind of intelligence . It’s the job of intel-ligence to distinguish between sat and asat , Krsna and Maya, favourable and unfavoura-ble. We cannot understand this with the help of the mind. It’s the work of intelligence. That is why the Lord said,
dadāmi buddhi-yogaṁ taṁ
yena mām upayānti te
To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give the understanding by which they can come to Me. (BG 10.10)
To whom does the Lord bestow intelligence?
Those who worship Him constantly. Now there is an opportunity these days that you can worship the Lord constantly . Then the Lord will bestow you with intelligence and we will reach closer to the Lord. We will reach more and more closer to the Lord. We have to go close, closer and closest to the Lord. Take full advantage of the situation and try to achieve personal spiritual advancement.

Chanting means preaching to the mind
Suprabhātam! (Good Morning!) We chant so that our morning can be a “Good Morning”. If we don’t chant then how can it be a Good Morning. It will be “Bad Morning” (Kuprabhat).
Chanting is taking place from 575 locations. Where is 1000 and where is 575? Zoom has made some changes to the password. Possibilities are there that yesterday the number of participants was crossing 1000. I don’t know why. Has everyone been informed regarding the changes to having a password to join? All the smart chanters have joined. Others might not be knowing that a password is needed. They will get to know about the change today or by tomorrow. Please take note of the change of the use of a password. I don’t know if it will change again or not. Please inform others about this change so that they can join.
All of you chanted extra on Kamada Ekadasi. All have taken vows to chant 64 rounds. Those who didn’t chant 64 rounds are requested to write in brief why they couldn’t. And those who have chanted more than 64 rounds are requested to write about their number of extra rounds and why they chanted extra. There must be a reason for chanting extra rounds. This will be posted on Loksanga and this is daily news now. This will be posted on Chant Japa with Lokanath Swami on Facebook. You can see and I can also see. Few devotees in this world chant 64 rounds daily. Those who chant 64 sometimes get the confidence to chant 16 rounds easily daily. This is the benefit of chanting 64 rounds.
Chanting more than 16 rounds pleases the Lord. Additional rounds please the Lord more. Chanting more rounds means fighting with the mind. Prabhupada would say, “Preaching is fighting”. While chanting we don’t preach to the world, but to the mind. We are preaching to ourselves. We discipline the mind. Or it may be that these are prayers to the mind to worship the lotus feet of the Lord.

This can be the prayer to the mind while chanting.

When we say the Hare Krishna maha-mantra and try to hear it, then the mind doesn’t want to hear and it runs somewhere else. It is busy with some other thoughts. We wake up with such a mind. Jiva Jago. At the time of chanting, we preach to the mind. If we do 16 rounds, we preach to the mind. The more we chant, the more we preach. One thing is that we should chant more every day.
sa vai puṁsāṁ paro dharmo
yato bhaktir adhokṣaje
The supreme occupation [dharma] for all humanity is that by which men can attain to loving devotional service unto the transcendent Lord. Such devotional service must be unmotivated and uninterrupted to completely satisfy the self.[ SB 1.2.6]
Performing devotional service is dharma. Adhokshaja is the Lord’s name. This is not the name of demigods. Adhokshaja refers to Visnu Tattva. The highest dharma of human civilization is to render devotional service to the Supreme. There should be apratihata (constant) bhakti. Nowadays there is talk of constant kirtana or chanting. Daily we have to do kirtana from 5:00 to 5:15 pm. I received news from many cities such as Nagpur, Bhiwandi, Noida, that devotees are chanting for half-hour slots in their homes and covering 24 hours. Sadhana Bhakti Mataji, Venugopal, and many more devotees are doing kirtana in their respective homes for half an hour. Japa is an important part of bhakti. There are many limbs of bhakti. By adopting them one after another we are busy 24 hours. Kirtana or bhakti should be non stop. It’s not only on Sundays. Christians go to the church on Sundays. Our Muslim brothers go for Namaz on Fridays. Namaz happens 5 times a day, but it’s difficult to say how many do this. Bhakti should be ahaituky and apratihatā. Ahaituky means there should not be any material reason to do bhakti. Bhakti should not be for dhanaḿ, janaḿ, sundarīḿ and kavitāḿ. Caitanya Mahaprabhu also has said that and many scriptures say the same thing. Sadhu, Sastra, and Acarya say in one voice ahaituky apratihatā bhakti. There are prayers to perform shraddha bhakti and day by day we should increase concentration, intensity and focus while performing bhakti.
akāmaḥ sarva-kāmo vā
yajeta puruṣaṁ param
“Whether one is without desire (the condition of the devotees), or is desirous of all fruitive results, or is after liberation, one should with all efforts try to worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead for complete perfection, culminating in Kṛṣṇa consciousness.”[ SB 2.3.10]
This happens when we practice. By practice only we can have more focus, intensity and attentiveness.
mano durnigraham calam
abhyasena tu kaunteya
vairagyena ca grhyate
The Blessed Lord said: O mighty-armed son of Kunti, it is undoubtedly very difficult to curb the restless mind, but it is possible by constant practice and by detachment.[ BG 6.35]
Arjuna asked his question on our behalf and even though he was not in that situation, still he asked the question to the Lord.
cancalam hi manah krsna
pramathi balavad drdham
tasyaham nigraham manye
vayor iva su-duskaram
For the mind is restless, turbulent, obstinate and very strong, O Krsna, and to subdue it is, it seems to me, more difficult than controlling the wind.[ BG 6.34]
He asked oh my Lord my mind is very obstinate and takes me to various thoughts. I can stop hurricanes but the controlling mind is more difficult than it. When Arjuna shared this confidential thing unto Lord then He said yes Arjuna, the mind is restless.
The Lord is saying it’s difficult but not impossible to control the mind. It is very possible. Then how to do it? abhyasena tu kaunteya. By practice.
The act of chanting is one kind of preaching. When we go for Nagar Sankirtana with mrdangas and karatals then we inspire others to chant. But we do Japa for our welfare and the purity of our mind. We should preach to our minds. And this is a daily practice. If Japa is not there then there is no practice. We do this practice with the help of Hari …

…and as we chant we ask for Their help. “O Krsna and Radhe Please see my mind and I’m being bothered.” Srila Prabhupada said that as we chant we are supposed to be in deep meditation and we should chant attentively. But the mind troubles and might be that intelligence is helping the mind. There is the possibility that senses are joining that team and putting forward difficulties. Srila Prabhupada said that when we go to meet any friend we might have to deal with a dog at the gate. He doesn’t allow us to go inside as it keeps on barking. Then only one option remains – to call and take help from the friend. Then our friend and master of the dog will come out and he may say something to that dog and control it. And it becomes easier to stop it’s barking in one minute. Then it’s done as you can go inside and meet your friend. In chanting also the same situation is there. We want to meet Krsna, get His darsana. But the mind keeps on barking like a dog and doesn’t allow us to think of the Lord and reach Him. In such a situation, we may have to call the Lord with a loud voice and with more intensity. It’s not that we should do bhakti seasonally and occasionally. We need to practice it every day and we can increase our Japa a little more and we can chant with more love. We should chant with feelings such as…
śūnyāyitaḿ jagat sarvaḿ
O Govinda! Feeling Your separations I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.[ Sri Siksastakam verse 7]
….life is useless without the Lord. “This world is zero without You.” When the Lord hears such prayers, such as call made by Draupadi then He will surely hear. This is food for thought for the day. Contemplate on this further and translate this into action.

Devotees should chant in association
Gaur Hari! Don’t say just Hari Hari, say Gaur Hari. Because Gaur is Hari. Krsna and Rama are also Hari. Jaya Jaya Rama Krsna Hari. Now chanting is taking place from 860 locations. All of you are witnesses to 1,000 participants. Haribol. In this Zoom conference a maximum of 1,000 participants are allowed. Maybe many more devotees were ready to participate, but the system does not allow it. This Japa and Japa talk is continuing for a year and a quarter. Earlier only 10 participants were there. Now it becomes 1000.
Today it is Kamada Ekadasi. Kamada Ekadasi means wish-fulfilling Ekadasi. And it has fulfilled the desire of mine and yours to achieve a score of 1000. We were waiting for this Kamada Ekadasi so that our desire for increasing the participants can be fulfilled. Our desire is fulfilled. The Lord is pleased when more and more devotees come together and chant and do sankirtana (congregational chanting). Congregational chanting is important in this yuga. Sankirtana means samyak prakarena kirtana. Sankirtana means to come together in larger numbers as much as possible and chant carefully, lovingly and with concentration. This type of kirtana is called Sankirtana – the more the merrier. It is beneficial as we chant in association. Maya catches us when we are alone. It’s better not to be alone. Maya divides and rules. This is the strategy of Maya. She isolates us and then comes the thought for sense enjoyment.
kṛṣṇa-bahirmukha hañā bhoga vāñchā kare
nikaṭa-stha māyā tāre jāpaṭiyā dhare
As soon as we forget Kṛṣṇa and we want to do things for our sense gratification, that is māyā. And as soon as we give up this process of sense gratification and do everything for Kṛṣṇa, that is liberation. [Prema-vivarta by Jagadānanda Paṇḍita]
Hence it has been said :
‘sādhu-saṅga’, ‘sādhu-saṅga’—sarva-śāstre kaya
lava-mātra sādhu-saṅge sarva-siddhi haya
Simply by associating with a pure devotee, one becomes wonderfully advanced in Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Sādhu-saṅga, or association with a devotee, means always engaging in Kṛṣṇa consciousness by chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra and by acting for Kṛṣṇa. Specifically, chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra purifies one, and this chanting is therefore recommended by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu.[ CC Madhya 22.54]
Hence devotees sit in circles in the temple to chant Japa and Maya is kept out.
‘strī-saṅgī’—eka asādhu, ‘kṛṣṇābhakta’ āra
To remain unattached to the modes of material nature, one should avoid associating with those who are asat, materialistic. There are two kinds of materialists. One is attached to women and sense gratification, and the other is simply a nondevotee. On the positive side is association with mahātmās, and on the negative side is the avoidance of nondevotees and women-hunters. [CC Madhya 22.87]
We should avoid associating with asat. This is sadachar. Devotees should chant in association. They can chant in the temple with many devotees or husband-wife can chant together or youths can chant together. As we start chanting…

… and hear, then there should be smaranam and mananam then thoughts related to the Lord will come. While chanting we shouldn’t become thoughtless like sunyavadis or Mayavadis who keep on thinking about impersonalism. As we are Vaisnavas, when we chant and hear then thoughts should come in our memory.
śravaṇaṁ kīrtanaṁ viṣṇoḥ
arcanaṁ vandanaṁ dāsyaṁ
Prahlāda Mahārāja said: Hearing and chanting about the transcendental holy name, form, qualities, paraphernalia and pastimes of Lord Viṣṇu, remembering them, serving the lotus feet of the Lord, offering the Lord respectful worship with sixteen types of paraphernalia, offering prayers to the Lord, becoming His servant, considering the Lord one’s best friend, and surrendering everything unto Him (in other words, serving Him with the body, mind and words) — these nine processes are accepted as pure devotional service. [SB 7.5.23].
The result of the nine kinds of devotional service is vishnoh smaranam. Smaranam of Visnu is the result. Remembering Rama or Krsna or Gauranga is remembering Visnu Tattva only.
When we do Japa and there is smaranam and kirtanam of the names of Hari then our attention should go towards Krsna. It may go towards Radha also. It should go towards the qualities of Krsna. The name of the Lord should remind us of the qualities and form of the Lord. Krsna is blackish just like the cloud. As I chant many thoughts come in my mind one after another. From the name, we remember form, qualities, pastimes. To play His pastimes the Lord needs associates and hence we need to remember them also. He needs Sakhas. For vatsalya bhav He needs a father and mother. Not only do we need to remember Yasoda and Nanda Baba, but also we need to remember the elderly persons of Vraj. When we remember vatsalya bhav then we should remember them. If we are remembering Radha Krsna then the Astasakhis also should be remembered. Friends of Krsna, cows, should also be remembered.
There are 9 lakhs cows. They have different names and colours. Remembering Krsna’s cows means remembering Krsna. We can remember the dust at the feet of Krsna or the Lord’s venu, murali. Dhenu is also there to remember. All this comes under Krsna consciousness. Dhama can also be remembered. Dhama is non-different from the Lord. It is the internal potency of the Lord in the form of Balarama. That’s the reason we don’t wear shoes when we do Parikrama in the dhama as it is Balarama. This understanding has to be there as it comes under the internal potency of the Lord. There are unlimited topics related to the Lord to be remembered while chanting. As Lord is Ananta, His glories are unlimited and are being sung since time immemorial. Hence Lord is Anantasesa. His glories never end. Prabhupada said that remembering the glories of the Lord is essential. After sravanam and kirtanam there should be Visnu smaranam. There should not be a zero after sravanam and kirtanam. Without sravanam we can’t remain alive. We remember the Lord as we chant. We were not remembering the Lord earlier. The world remembers Maya and we remember Krsna. This is the difference.
dhyāyato viṣayān puṁsaḥ
saṅgāt sañjāyate kāmaḥ
kāmāt krodho ’bhijāyate
While contemplating the objects of the senses, a person develops attachment for them, and from such attachment, lust develops, and from lust anger arises. [ BG 2.62]
As we remember objects or topics of the world we start to worry. We become anxious when we think and read the topics related to Coronavirus. We worry and get bound by it. The goal of chanting is to remember the Lord. This is a practice to remember the Lord.
yato yato niscalati
manas cancalam asthiram
tatas tato niyamyaitad
atmany eva vasam nayet
From whatever and wherever the mind wanders due to its flickering and unsteady nature, one must certainly withdraw it and bring it back under the control of the Self.[ BG 6.26]
The mind always flickers being attached to the worldly things. It runs towards various objects of senses and desires to enjoy them. Then Maya captures us. At the time of Japa, we need to think that this is not the time to remember sounds or the soft body of the opposite sex or forms or many rasas. There are many rasas such as fine wine. The smell is also there as the world is full of foul smells and to think that which is not there, then there is Maya. Jiva doesn’t know the eternal smell. Lord’s form has a good fragrance. When will we be attracted to that smell? As we chant we need to keep out thoughts of sadba, sparsha, rupa, rasa, gandha of this world. Hare and Krishna are not words of this world. They are transcendental. Krsna does not belong to this world although the world belongs to Him. He eternally stays in the dhama.
One devotee from Malaysia would chant and as soon as a thought of Maya or sense enjoyment came to him then he would put a mark on a piece of paper with a pencil. He would check this on Ekadasi. We keep telling you that Ekadasi is the day of introspection. In this way, this devotee from Malaysia would see whether the number of marks is reducing or not so that one day he may not have to pen a single mark.
Before stopping the Japa talk I would like to mention that today is the Vyasa puja Day of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja.
The celebration is taking is taking place with very few devotees due to this Coronavirus issue. All his disciples are celebrating this Vyasa puja in their respective homes, as well as in temples. He has 30 to 40 thousand disciples. All are celebrating his Vyasa Puja and I would encourage you to also celebrate this Vyasa puja.
You must have noted that Maharaja’s birthday is on Ekadasi. Gopal Krishna Maharaja’s is also on Ekadasi and mine also. We all have birthdays on Ekadasi. Jayapataka Swami Maharaj and I were born in the same year, 1949. Jayapataka Swami Maharaja is a few months older than me. Age wise Jayapataka Swami Maharaja is a few months older than me, but when it comes to knowledge, experience and maturity he is much more mature and experienced.
He has the special mercy of Srila Prabhupada and Gaurang Mahaprabhu. He joined Srila Prabhupada’s movement in 1968 in Canada. There’s one very famous thing which is being talked about. When he was a newly initiated devotee he would chant with a loud voice, not only in ashram or temple but outside also. Since he chanted loudly people complained to the police that he is causing nuisance and disturbing the peace.
When Srila Prabhupada came to know about this, Srila Prabhupada decided to send him to India specifically to Mayapur as no one will complain about his loud chanting. When Srila Prabhupada came to know about this behaviour Srila Prabhupada decided to send Jayapataka Swami Maharaja to India, specifically to Mayapur as no one will complain about his loud chanting. At that time he was not a swami. He is one of the oldest sannyasi disciples. Acyutananda Swami Maharaja was also sent to India. But Jayapataka Swami Maharaj is the first one to be sent. Then he became GBC and was given services of Mayapur. Srila Prabhupada also has given him the responsibility of TOVP
I love Jayapataka Swami Maharaja. When I was a younger there used to both love and hate. But now there is only love. Not only like, but I also love him. May my love for my god brothers such as Jayapataka Swami Maharaja keep on increasing! I pray for this.
Jayapataka Swami Maharaja expands this movement even though his body is not so well. He is very active and remains busy. Though some of us miss the meetings, he never does. Jayapataka Maharaja is miraculous. And wherever there is a miracle, one needs to offer obeisances.

I offer my respectful obeisances unto all the Vaishnava devotees of the Lord. They are just like desire trees who can fulfill the desires of everyone, and they are full of compassion for the fallen conditioned souls.

Lord’s Katha also attracts the Lord!
Chanting is taking place from 744 places. Welcome and congratulations! Seems that you have celebrated Rama Navami with great pomp. Might be for the first time ever that you had all the time in the service of Rama, Rama Nama and Katha. Shridhar Madhava Prabhu is writing that many did Rama Katha. Jaya Pancali Mataji from Pune is reporting that there was reading from Vraja-mandala darsana for 7 days on zoom. It’s a good idea. Many wrote that they are reading Krishna book, Ramayana, Bhagavatam.
I heard that a few devotees in Pune are reading Vraja-mandala darsana. That book has pictures and the pastimes of the Lord and His pastime places. It is like an audio visual experience . As soon as you read it, realisations will take you to Vrndavana and you will become a Vraja vasi. You can read Vraja-mandala darsana during this lockdown period and take advantage of it.
The daughters of Radha Vinod Prabhu offered 56 bhoga to Lord Rama. Radhanand Prabhu from Sangli wrote that they did abhishek and offered bhoga to Jagannatha Swami and Gaura Nitai on the occasion of Rama Navami. Jagannatha is Sri Rama.

Vasudeva Ghosa says: Folding my hands, I declare: Gauranga is Krsna and He is Jagannatha. ( 5th verse of Song ‘Jay Jay Jagannath’ by Vasudev Ghosh.)
Yesterday when I was describing the pastimes of Gauranga Mahaprabhu then there was an experience of one brahmana. When the Lord makes us realise, we get realisations. At one time when Gauranga Mahaprabhu was travelling in South India He was in Madurai and the other time in Siddhavat. Two brahmanas who were devotees of Lord Rama got Gauranga Mahaprabhu’s association. They offered bhoga to Gauranga Mahaprabhu. Lord was present, so there was no need of offering to his Deity. They directly offered bhoga to Gauranga Mahaprabhu. One of them said, ‘I am experiencing that You are Krsna.’ He was chanting Lord Rama’s name, but when He came in Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s association, He started to chant Hare Krishna. After seeing this transformation, Mahaprabhu asked Him, “What happened? What is the reason behind this?’ That brahmana replied, ‘ You are the reason. You are the cause of all causes and I am experiencing that You are Krsna.”
The other brahmana said, “I am experiencing that You are Rama.” One experienced that Caitanyacandra is Ramacandra and the other experienced Him as Krsnacandra.
I have seen from reports that you all have remained busy yesterday. Many chanted either 111, 64 or 32 rounds. Many have increased their chanting. The idea and expectation is that you may come out and perform Sankirtana from 5 to 5:15 pm to take part in Akhanda Harinama Sankirtana all over the world. All of you are in contact with many devotees, temple management, leaders or congregation development devotees. Inspire them to take part in this and spread this.
One Mataji said that she can’t go to the terrace to perform kirtana, so she did it at home. You may perform kirtana in any possible way. Yen Ken Prakarena. Many have reported about their Kirtana or Katha.
I remembered that when Valmiki Muni wrote Rama Katha as Ramayana, He wondered who would spread this Rama Katha. Meanwhile the doorbell rang and there were Lav and Kusha. While He was wondering then at that moment itself, Lav and Kush reached over there. That’s when He decided that these two are going to spread Rama Katha. He taught them Rama Katha and they memorised it and started to recite it along with a Veena, a musical Instrument. They started to go to various sages’ asaramas and performed Rama Katha to music. From various places sages gathered to carefully hear Rama Katha. They would comment that when they hear their Katha, all pastimes come in front of their eyes in the form of a video. What a story and the storyteller! This Katha is non different from lila. When Lav Kush recited the pastimes of Lord Rama, all the sages took darsana of such pastimes. They were Rama realised.
In Balakanda, there is a description that Lava and Kush were reflections of Lord Rama and hence they were very beautiful as they were sons of Lord Rama. Even though many didn’t know this. At the end of the katha, the sages would embrace them, smell their hair and offer gifts to them. Lav Kush went to various kingdoms to do katha and became parivrajakacaryas.
Once they reached Ayodhya. This katha is very sweet and melodious, even if there is no Veena. They performed this katha at various places in Ayodhya. This katha is all about Rama, Sita, Laksmana and Hanuman… When Lav Kush described the pastimes then all the Ayodhya vasis would hear and follow them. It had become the talk of the town that these two children were wonderfully describing Rama Katha. The story and the storyteller should be like this. This news reached Lord Rama. He became eager to hear katha from them. He called Lav and Kush in His assembly. He called all the mothers, ministers and senior people. He asked them to start Katha. Lav Kush started.

Lord’s Ram, residing in Ayodhya, son of Dasaratha; purifier of sin, the enchanter of Seetha, the very life of Janaki.
In this way, Rama Katha started and all the listeners were absorbed in the Katha with a focused mind. Meanwhile, Lord Rama started thinking, ‘Why am I sitting on such an elevated seat? This is not right. I should sit at the feet of these storytellers. He slowly got down from His place and sat on the floor to hear further Katha. Lord Rama, all the members of His family, ministers and invited guests relished Rama Katha.
If it’s Rama Katha, Krsna or Gaur Katha, It attracts the Lord. Such are the Kathas and the reciters of the Kathas. Jai Sri Rama!
Tomorrow is Ekadasi. I am thinking on behalf of Harinama Ministry that why can’t we have a Japa Marathon and chant 64 rounds? We have time. As there is fasting, we can chant 64 rounds like many do on Nirjala Ekadasi and the World Holy Name Festival. Tomorrow’s Ekadasi is the only one which is falling under this lockdown period. Why don’t we take full advantage of it and observe Upavasa (fasting). Upa means close and vasa means to stay. Upavasa means to stay near or in association with the Lord. We will also try to do attentive chanting and get benefitted by the association of the Lord. Coronavirus is not stopping. It is increasing so we also have to increase our prayers. As I said we need ‘doctors care and devotees’ prayers’. We need more prayers and more chanting.
Tomorrow we will start this session at 6 am and you can begin chanting earlier before the session and we will extend this and spend more time chanting with you. Japa talk could start at around 8 am. There would be less talk time and more chanting time. Let’s do it together. Is anybody ready? It seems that everyone is ready and responding in their respective languages.
Ok, so it is resolved that we will chant 64 rounds tomorrow. Apart from that, reading, hearing and 5pm kirtana is there. We will spread this news all over the world and request them to join. If any more special news is there, it will be sent to you. Get ready mentally and physically.
There should be harer nāmaiva kevalam and attentive chanting. We must check the quality, not only quantity.

Ramayan – History, not mythology!

Chanting taking place from 899 locations. Rama Navami greetings from my side also. Saying, “Rama! Rama!” was the culture in India to greet each other when people met especially in the mornings. Many have sent their reports of the katha they did on zoom. Vishal Prabhu did kirtana in Nagpur. Akinchan Bhakta Prabhu is reporting that there will be a 24 hour japa yajna in his village today. Devotees from Solapur are writing that they will light 9 lamps. Japotsava, Sravanotsava or Kirtanotsava has to be celebrated for the pleasure of Lord Rama. I keep on saying that today is not only Rama Navami, but also Laksman, Bharat and Shatrughna Navami as these 4 brothers appeared today. All of them are the Lord. They are Vasudeva, Sankarsana, Pradyumna and Aniruddha. They all are Visnu tattva. Pastimes of these 4 brothers are there in Ramayana.

Valmiki Muni has become Kokila and He sang Rama Rama sitting on the branch of the Ramayana poem. Every letter of Ramayana is sweet. ( Ramraksha stotra , verse 34)
He expanded and divided this katha into 7 kandas or segments. Some of you are narrating Rama Katha. Rama Katha usually goes on for 9 days. Like Bhagavata Katha is done for 7 days. The Kandas are:
5. Sundar and
6. Uttar kanda which describes pastimes of Lord Ram after returning to Ayodhya.
Lord Rama revealed His manifested pastimes in this universe. He had manifested and un-manifested pastimes like Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
dasa sahasra dasa shatami ca
Lord Rama was here on the Earth for 11000 years. dasa sahastra is 10 thousand years and dasa shatami is one thousand years. He appeared today on Rama Navami in Ayodhya at noon. Sri Krsna appeared at madhya – ratri or at midnight. Lord Rama comes in the lineage of Suryavamsi (Sun). Surya is also called Dinesh as his rule goes on during the day. Sri Krsna took birth at night as the rule of the moon is at night. Ayodhya is situated on the banks of Sarayu River which starts from Manasa Sarovar and Lord Rama took birth over there.
This story is of Treta Yuga around, 10 lakh years ago when Lord Rama had appeared. When He was unshodasha varsha i.e. 15 years old, Visvamitra Muni took Rama and Laksman along with him to his Siddha asrama where Lord Rama killed and Trataka attained salvation. Sri Krsna also began His pastimes by killing a lady, demon Putana. Then they went to Janakpur.
While going to Janakpur, there was a pastime of Ahilya Uddhar. In Janakpur the marriage ceremony of Lord Rama and Sita was performed along with Laksman, Bharat and Shatrughna who married the 3 sisters of Sita. Then Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya. There were preparations going on for His coronation, but it couldn’t happen because of Kaikeyi and Lord Rama had to go into exile. Sita and Laksman also went along with Lord Rama. We are telling you how Lord Rama went from North to South and where Lord Rama stayed and performed pastimes.
At Shringverpur on the banks of Ganga River, They waited for one day. Then Guha took them by boat and crossed the river and reached Prayag. From Prayag They left for Chitrakoot. They met Valmiki Muni and asked where they could stay. Valmiki Muni said, ‘Tell me of a place where You don’t stay? Then I will tell you to stay at the place where you don’t stay because You stay everywhere. But if you have asked then Oh Lord! Please stay in the hearts of your devotees.’

The Lord started to stay in the courtyard of the hearts of devotees.
Someone posted on the chat, ‘Oh Lord! You are Bhaktavatsal. You are affectionate to your devotees, but unfortunately I am not your devotee. What will happen to me? It would be good for me if I was a devotee. But Lord, You are Dina Bandhu also. It’s good, as I am ‘dina’ or fallen. Please liberate me.’
Lord Rama went ahead with Sita and Laksman and reached Chitrakoot on the banks of Mandakini River. He stayed there for 12 years out of the 14 years of exile. There He met Bharat who came with all the Ayodhya-vasis. They had come to meet them. Then everybody and Bharat returned to Ayodhya with the Paduka (footprints) of Lord Rama.
Near Nagpur, there is a place known as Ramgiri or Ramtek. Giri means mountain. There is a famous mountain named after Lord Rama. Lord Rama stayed there for a while. There various demons had killed many sages. After seeing this, Lord Rama took a vow to release this earth from demons.
vināśāya ca duskrtām
sambhavāmi yuge yuge (BG 4.8)
To deliver the pious and to annihilate the miscreants, as well as to reestablish the principles of religion, I Myself appear, millennium after millennium.
The place where He took this vow is known as Ramtek. He asked Agastya Muni about the place to stay in Dandakaranya. They were asked to stay on the banks of the Godavari River. They stayed at a place known as Pancavati, where there were 5 Banyan trees. The trees are still there today as evidence of this pastime. Sita was taken away by Ravana from this place. Jatayu fought with all His might, but He fell. Rama Laksman reached Him while looking for Sita. They found Jatayu south of Nashik. They performed his funeral ceremony and got an indication that Sita was kidnapped and taken towards the South.
Then they killed Kabandha. Going ahead, They went to Pampa Sarovar which is also called Kishkindha Ksetra or Hampi. The birth place of Hanuman is also here. On the banks of Pampa Sarovar, Lord Rama met Sabri and liberated her. On getting indication from Kabandha and Sabri, They went ahead to Rishyamukha Mountain where they will meet one who can help them. There they met Hanuman for the very first time. Then they met Sugriva, killed Bali and they spent Catur masya over there.
Troops were sent to search for Sita. Lord Rama embraced Hanuman when he brought news of Mother Sita. Then they moved ahead and reached Rameshwar. Samundra Dev didn’t help them to go ahead. They constructed the setubandh bridge on the indication of Samundra Dev and reached Lanka. The battle went on for 2 months. The Lord had taken a vow to kill the demons. Two great demons of that time were Ravana and Kumbhakarna who were Jaya and Vijaya. They were killed. Vibhishan was enthroned as King of Lanka and They returned to Ayodhya by Pushpaka plane. They got down at Kishkindha and from there they sent a message to Bharat through Hanuman that They are returning. Bharat had said, If you get little late then You won’t find Me alive.”
All Ayodhya vasis were waiting for Them. The day Ravana was killed is known as Dussehra and the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya is celebrated as Diwali. That time the whole of Ayodhya was decorated with lamps and Rajyabhiseka (coronation) took place and Lord Rama became King.
A King has to be like Lord Rama. He took care of the whole Ayodhya like His children. His praja included not only humans, but all living entities and He maintained them as an ideal King would. In this way, a history of an ideal king is established as Ramayana in front of us. But foolish people think that this is mythology. After hearing from the British that Ramayana and Mahabharata are mythology, Indians also started to believe such thinking.
This is History, not mythology. The story of Sita and Rama is there in Ramayana and Ramayana is the real wealth of India. We need to study this. In this way, we keep Lord Rama alive in our memories. Lord Rama appears in this way. When we read Ramayana and remember Him by chanting Rama Rama or Hare Krishna maha-mantra then this remembrance of Lord Rama is the appearance of Lord Rama just like He appears in the form of Deities. Lord Rama is eternal. Rama Navami helps us remember Lord Rama.

Господь, ты любишь своих преданных, но я не твой преданный. Но, Господи, ты и есть Динбандху, тогда это хорошо. Я Дин или упал, пожалуйста, возвысь меня.
Тогда Господь Рама вышел вперед и достиг Читракута на берегу реки Мандакини. Он пробыл там 12 лет из 14 лет ссылки.
Там Он встретил Бхарату, который пришел со всеми Айодхьявасами. Все пришли туда, чтобы встретить Их.
Рядом с Нагпуром есть место, известное как Рамгири или Рамтаке. Там много демонов убили много мудрецов.
Там Он дал клятву освободить эту землю от демонов.

Чтобы освободить праведников и уничтожить злодеев, а также восстановить устои религии, Я прихожу сюда из века в век.

Его праджа включала в себя не только людей, но и всех живых существ, и Он поддерживал их как идеальный царь.
Таким образом, есть история идеального царя.
Но глупые люди думают, что это мифология. Британцы начали рассказывать таким образом. И индийцы тоже начали верить в такое мышление. Это история, а не мифология. В Рамаяне есть история Ситы и Рама, и нам нужно изучить это, и благодаря этому поддерживать в своих воспоминаниях Господа Раму, и таким образом появляется Господь Рама.
Когда мы читаем Рамаяну и вспоминаем Господа Раму – это появление Господа Рамы точно так же, как Он появляется в форме божеств.
Господь Рама вечен
Этот Рама Навами заставляет нас вспомнить Господа Раму.

Expand Hari Nama Yajna
Chanting is taking place from 832 places. Sridhar Madhav Prabhu is doing Rama Katha. Ramlila Mataji is also going to do Rama Katha. Ram Naumi is also approaching. This is an idea for all of you. You can read, describe the Katha of the Lord. A few are already doing it. Also non-stop Nama Sanakirtana Yajna is going on all over the world for peace. Many reports are coming, thanks and congratulations to those who are participating.
Akincana Bhakta Prabhu has reported that a 24 hour kirtana has been started in Bangalore in which half hour slots are distributed amongst devotees. Some are doing in their home also. Pandu Maharaja is doing an 8 hour non-stop Sankirtana in their home. Wherever there is kirtana, devotees gather. Many devotees are doing kirtana on Zoom.It might be that you are not uploading the kirtana. When we did kirtana yesterday and uploaded, 1000 devotees watched the kirtana. Muralimohan Prabhu is doing many classes. Krishnabhakta Prabhu is counseling.
From today I will be doing Gaura Katha between 5:30-6:30 pm IST in English. All are welcome. I thought even though we are from different locations, we are under the same umbrella of Krsna Nama and we are saved. We have gathered from the protection from the mass killing by Coronavirus. When you do katha, kirtana and remain engaged as many ISKCON devotees are doing then those who are participating in such devotional activities are also protected by the Lord. This world is very dangerous. Beware. All are running for shelter. All of you already have shelter.
jīvana anitya jānaha sār,
tāhe nānā-vidha vipada-bhār,
nāmāśraya kori’ jatane tumi,
thākaha āpana kāje
This temporary life is full of various miseries. Take shelter of the holy name as your only business.
Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur says that without the holy name there is nothing else. The holy name is a living personality. When we take shelter of the holy name, the Katha we reach a safer location.
I was thinking while saying this that when Lord Indra sent heavy rain showers over Vraja everyone started to run. Gargacarya told Nanda Maharaja to take shelter of Krsna in difficulty. All ran towards Krsna. They went to Govardhan and Krsna with His left hand lifted Govardhan just like a child picks up a ball. All Vrajavasis, Radharani, Gopa-Gopis, cows, calves reached and Krsna gave them shelter for the next seven days and seven nights. We have 21 days lockdown. Over there they had a gathering for 7 days. They didn’t have this opportunity to be with the Lord 24×7. Few devotees would get the Lord’s association for some time just like Nanda Baba, the cows before noon and in the afternoon. In Astakaliya Lila there are times of Gocarana Lila. For some it is morning or evening. For Gopis it is afternoon, the time in which Krsna plays different pastimes. At midnight Krsna doesn’t sleep. He pretends to be sleeping as Yasoda feeds Him milk and tells stories. As soon as she closes the door Kanhaiya runs to the forest and plays the flute to send a message to all the Gopis to inform them of His location in a specific forest. This midnight time is for Radharani and the Gopis.
All Lilas have their specific names. Sandhya, Purvanha and Apparanha, Madhurya is durning the afternoon and at midnight. Therefore all are allotted different slots. But devotees think, “Why are we not allowed to be with the Lord 24 hours a day?” When there was heavy rainfall the Lord lifted Govardhan. Krsna knows everyones desires and He knew this desire. Then for at least 7 days He fulfilled the desires of all the Vraja vasis to be with Him.
I was thinking that now there are devotees from 832 places joining us and this is going to spread to other places also as you become a leader and describe the pastimes of the Lord. Send it to others and you take benefit from that. It means the Lord is protecting you. With this all of us are getting the protection of the Lord even though we are physically at a distance. This distance vanishes as we all engage ourselves in katha. We were also not getting enough opportunity to remember the Lord 24 hours a day. The Lord sent Coronavirus and then all started to run for help. Managers went to doctors, governments made arrangements, but Hare Krishna devotees have this faith.
ātma-sainyeṣv asatsv api
teṣāṁ pramatto nidhanaṁ
paśyann api na paśyati
Persons devoid of ātma-tattva do not inquire into the problems of life, being too attached to the fallible soldiers like the body, children and wife. Although sufficiently experienced, they still do not see their inevitable destruction.
Give this faith and strength to your body, to your children, wife so that they or she could help. Others are also there like Engineers, Doctors but this is false symmetry. This will not be of use when you have to face death. No one can help at time of death. [SB 2.1.4]

In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Kṛṣṇa. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Kṛṣṇa Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions. [SB 11.5.32]
What do intelligent people do? They take shelter of Sankirtana Yajna. By the Lord’s mercy Gaudiya Vaisnavas are getting the shelter and hence spreading this answer. Expand this umbrella as much as you can. Charity begins at home. Provide everyone with shelter for their protection. The holy name is the main shelter.

Люди, лишенные атма-таттвы, не задумываются над проблемами жизни, потому что слишком привязаны к таким ненадежным воинам, как собственное тело, дети и жена. Несмотря на достаточный опыт, они не осознают неотвратимости смерти. [ШБ. 2.1.4]
Дайте эту веру и силу своему телу, своим детям, жене, чтобы они или она могли помочь. Другие также там, как инженеры, врачи, но это ложная симметрия. Это не будет использовано, когда вам придется столкнуться со смертью. Никто не может помочь во время смерти.

Что делают разумные люди? Они принимают прибежище у Санкиртаны Ягьи. По милости Господа Гаудия Вайшнавы получают прибежище и следовательно распространяют ответ на этот вопрос. Расширьте этот зонт настолько, насколько сможете. Благотворительность начинается дома. Предоставьте каждому прибежище для их защиты. Святое имя – главное прибежище.
