Today we have 516 participants. This is the benefit of the Corona virus. As the Corona virus cases are increasing Japa participants are also increasing. All are sending the score of their countries. Noida - 4, Mauritius-0, USA has 50 states and every state is covered. Corona virus is on the job. With this many temples have been closed. In ISCKON temples gatherings and Sunday festivals are closed. The same is in Tirupati. In Pandharpur also Vitthala darsana is closed. The only thing remaining is the holy name. Darsana might be closed, but Harinama can’t be closed. The same darsana of the Lord is available through the holy name.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu said that the holy name is available in all situations. As I was saying, as age increases we might not be able to reach the temple to take darsana. We might be bed ridden. We can’t visit the dhama. You might not be able to reach the Deities in your home. But wherever you are, in a village or farm, you can chant the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra. This virus is called COVID-19. What is there in the name? This is making the whole world bend down. Unfortunately the whole world is universally conscious of this talk of town, country, day and night.
Super powers like America, China, India have to bow down. This virus is called Corona and they are bowing down in front of the Corona virus. There is some power stronger than America and that power is Mahamaya.
daivī hyeṣhā guṇa-mayī mama māyā duratyayā
mām eva ye prapadyante māyām etāṁ taranti te [B.G. 7.14]
Translation
My divine energy Maya, consisting of the three modes of nature, is very difficult to overcome. But those who surrender unto me cross over it easily. [B.G. 7.14]
The Lord has said that it’s very difficult to transgress Mahamaya. The whole world is facing difficulties. Normally we say super power. Yes, there is a super power, but we don’t think to whom that super power belongs. Lord is energetic and this is His energy.
mayādhyakṣheṇa prakṛitiḥ sūyate sa-charācharam
hetunānena kaunteya jagad viparivartate
Translation
Working under My direction, this material energy brings into being all animate and inanimate forms, O son of Kunti. For this reason, the material world undergoes the changes (of creation, maintenance, and dissolution). [B.G. 9.10]
‘All of nature moves as per MY supervision.' Will you believe it now? Some living beings won’t understand with words, but with kicks. Now at least understand that this Corona virus is the energy of the Lord. We can’t control anything. We have to bow down to the lotus feet of God then we will be saved.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, “Who else is there other than Me as your brother?”
enechi auṣadhi māyā nāśibāro lāgi’
hari-nāma mahā-mantra lao tumi māgi’
Translation
I have brought the medicine that will wipe out the disease of illusion from which you are suffering. Take this mahā-mantra-Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare.”
bhakativinoda prabhu-caraṇe pariyā
sei hari-nāma-mantra loilo māgiyā
Translation
Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Thākura says: “I fall at the Lord’s feet, having taken this mahā-mantra.”
I have appeared for your sake. Who is your true friend? A friend in need is a friend Indeed. One who helps in need is a true friend. Ultimately the Lord is only our friend.
bhoktaram yajna-tapasam
sarva-loka-mahesvaram
suhrdam sarva-bhutanam
jnatva mam santim rcchati [BG 5.29]
Translation
The sages, knowing Me as the ultimate purpose of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attain peace from the pangs of material miseries. [B.G. 7.14]
Caitanya Mahaprabhu has rambaan solution which means whenever Lord Rama targeted something, he never missed. In this way we need to take shelter of the holy names.
All the governments are saying how we can save ourselves. The whole world is engrossed with fear. Eating, sleeping, mating, defending [ahara nidra, bhaya, maithun]. Srila Prabhupada translates Bhaya as defending. All are trying to make some defence schemes, but ultimately only the Lord can help us.
Cause of our fear -> Corona disease.
Causes of this disease -> Our desire for sense gratification.
Diseases will keep on coming. The permanent solution is not to receive another body. If there is no body then there are no diseases.
The ultimate solution is the holy name. Kunti Maharani is a very smart lady. She says keep on sending difficulties.
vipadaḥ santu tāḥ śaśvat
tatra tatra jagad-guro
bhavato darśanaṁ yat syād
apunar bhava-darśanam
Translation
”I wish that all those calamities would happen again and again so that we can see You again and again, for seeing You means that we will no longer see repeated births and deaths.” [SB. 1.8.25]
Whenever You send difficulties we will run to You, pray to You and beg for our health. Keep on sending difficulties so that we will say, ‘Oh My God, Please Help me.’ We run towards Your shelter. Your shelter means we won’t have to face miseries of this material world. Birth and Death. We will not have a material body and hence no Corona virus. Increase your faith in the holy name and experience that the Lord is the holy name.
nāmāśraya kori’ jatane tumi,
thākaha āpana kāje
Translation
This temporary life is full of various miseries. Take shelter of the holy name as your only business.
Harinama in the mouth and work in the hands. This is prescription of the Lord. Don’t just listen to me, but preach this also. When the whole world is in danger all turn towards the Lord. The atmosphere is favourable for preaching and hence take advantage.
