21st March 2020 A Devotee is Para Dukha Dukhi Hare Krishna. We have devotees from 531 locations. The number of chanters is quite more than this number. Many devotees sent the Ekadasi report, but I couldn't keep track and if I keep on reading then what will happen to my Japa. Somebody said that we have reached 12 positive coronavirus cases in Mauritius. This is not a laughing matter. It's serious. We pray for them. Yesterday many devotees chanted extra rounds and did extra reading. I am getting reports from Dubai, Solapur, Bhiwandi, Pandharpur, Bangalore and many other places. Purnanidhi Mataji from Greater Noida is reporting that she recited the whole Bhagavad Gita. Somebody from Solapur completed the reading of Bhagavad Gita for the 3rd time. Devotees from Thane chanted extra rounds. Janhavi Ganga Mataji chanted 81 rounds.I think she is on top. She has a top score. Hirabai Mataji from Mauritius is chanting along with her family. Brother of Hardik Patel Prabhu is also chanting. This is good news as you only don't get benefited but the whole world gets benefited. Hare Krishna maha-mantra is a prayer and we pray for the whole world. This is beneficial for all. You are increasing the quantity, but keep in mind about the quality. Are we chanting attentively or not. It's also important to chant quality japa not just increase the quantity. This is also the purpose of the zoom conference. Other attempts will be there like depending on the Government and doctors, searching for a vaccine. Ultimately we have to surrender when all our attempts fail. Then we have to move towards the Lord as He is the ultimate shelter. Yesterday a devotee shared with me a letter of Srila Prabhupada which he wrote in 1969. Prabhupada wrote, ”Depend on Krsna". bolo hari bolo sampade vipade, bhai, bolo hari bolo bolo hari bolo grhe thako, vane thako, bolo hari bolo krsnaera samsare thaki’ bolo hari bolo Translation: Chant the name of Hari! O brothers, whether in prosperity or misfortune, chant the name of Hari! Chant the name of Hari! Whether you live at home or in the forest, chant the name of Hari! Remaining in this material world for Krsna's purposes, chant the name of Hari! [“Bolo Hari Bolo" song verse 3 by Bhaktivinoda Thakur] In all situations, the Lord is the only shelter. Srila Prabhupada is writing “Depend on Krsna” because after all, He is the ultimate Master of all situations. Don't think that whatever happening from Coronavirus is not in Krsna’s knowledge. Don't think that the Lord is not involved in this. Thinking in this way is the greatest illusion or Maya. It takes an acarya or a knowledgeable person to make such comments. Prabhupada is writing that It is not the doctor or the medicine. or the place, but it is ultimately Krsna who is the Master who does everything. We should not forget this. marobi rakhobi-jo iccha tohara nitya-dasa prati tuwa adhikara Translation: Slay me or protect me as You wish, for You are the master of Your eternal servant. [ Atma-Nivedana Song verse 3 by Bhaktivinoda Thakura] Rākhe kṛṣṇa mare ke mare kṛṣṇa rākhe ke Translation: If Kṛṣṇa wants to kill you, nobody can save you. And if Kṛṣṇa wants to save you, nobody can kill you. If Krsna wants to save us, no such virus can kill us. Keep on endeavouring to save the people who are affected by the disease. It would be great if such diseases are not there. Prevention is better than cure. World Health Organization (WHO) and so many medical agencies are also giving some guidelines which should be followed. All are making their attempts, but while doing this we should remember the Lord. No one is doing this in the world. Though our Prime Minister addressed our nation, he didn't remind us to remember the Lord or to read Bhagavad Gita and chant. Maybe the Pope is praying. Some comments keep on coming. We can pray and give well-wishes to the whole world. I'll say what you have chanted or studied extra is our contribution and with that we are expressing our compassion for those who are suffering because of this disease. Many are making arrangements to save lives. Superpowers are also busy. Diseased people are suffering, but not only that but their relatives too are busy. No one is left, who is not affected because of this disease. So we can pray. Being para dukha sukhi (one becomes happy when someone suffers) is demoniac mentality just like Mrigari hunter who found delight in killing animals. Vaisnavas are those who understand the suffering of others. We are not doctors or experts. Those who are doctors can guide about how we can be saved from this pandemic. On Ekadasi, you chanted more and you didn't honour food and you fasted from Maya and feasted with Krsna so for that on behalf of Lord Krsna we are thankful to you. Keep chanting and praying. Krsna Consciousness activities are the ultimate welfare work. Maximum help is being done by ISKCON devotees. Opening hospitals is also one kind of welfare work. As I keep on saying diseases don't leave us. They keep on coming back after some time, some life. They don't leave chasing us. There is no end to this. Doctors free us from one disease, but the help which Hare Krishna devotees offer is matchless as people will not get diseased after getting such help. janma karma ca me divyam evaṁ yo vetti tattvataḥ tyaktvā dehaṁ punar janma naiti mām eti so ’rjuna Translation: One who knows the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take his birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode, O Arjuna.[ BG 4.9] Which help is better? One disease comes then you come out of that then the second one comes. It will keep on coming. There is no end. The help which Hare Krishna devotees give is supreme. Sridhar Madhav Prabhu from Pune is addressing his counselees for one hour daily. This is a good idea. You can copy that. You can use this zoom conference to address the words of the Lord. You can send your messages as far as you can which will benefit the whole world. What the Lord says is more important than our manodharma. The Lord enlightens the heart of Hare Krishna devotees with transcendental knowledge. Srila Prabhupada's books are there and Hare Krishna maha-mantra is the Lord and Krsna prasada is there. Lord Radha Govind is standing there in the temple. This is a real help. Keep on helping as per their ability, but as Srila Prabhupada was saying it ultimately depends on Krsna. sarva-dharmān parityajya mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ Translation: Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.[ BG 18.66] Lord is promising that He will save us from dangers. This is guaranteed. Take shelter of Lord. Take more and more. ye yathā māṁ prapadyante tāṁs tathaiva bhajāmy aham mama vartmānuvartante manuṣyāḥ pārtha sarvaśaḥ Translation: As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of Pṛthā.[ BG 4.11] We need to see how surrendered we are? Only the Lord can help in the situation in which we are caught. This is temporary. We need to help the soul, not the body. The greatest illusion of the world is they think this body as their wife and son. They think when the body is finished everything is finished. bhasmī-bhūtasya dehasya kutaḥ punar āgamano bhavet Translation: "Oh, this body will be burned into ashes, and who is coming back again?" This world does not know about the soul. They just know about this body. Devotees have the self-realization. You are studying to discover yourself it seems. Ignorance is the cause of all miseries. We need to instruct everyone with Krsna’s instructions. yāre dekha, tāre kaha 'kṛṣṇa'-upadeśa Translation: "Whomever you meet, simply talk with him about the instructions given by Kṛṣṇa or tell him of narrations about Kṛṣṇa."
