Topic: Iskcon Nagpur (IVCC)
HH Lokanath Swami Maharaj:
Hare Krishna!
Keep chanting.
Jnyaneshwar said, “say Hari Hari”.
There is so much peace. We are in Nagpur in IVCC (Iskcon/ International Vedic Cultural Centre). We are here seeing the construction work. It's a houseful here. There will prasadam also after this Japa Talk. But the zoom attendees could not honour prasadam. This is the only drawback of zoom.
Nectar Of Instruction, 4:
dadāti pratigṛhṇāti
guhyam ākhyāti pṛcchati
bhuṅkte bhojayate caiva
ṣaḍ-vidhaṁ prīti-lakṣaṇam
Translation:
Offering gifts in charity, accepting charitable gifts, revealing one’s mind in confidence, inquiring confidentially, accepting prasāda and offering prasāda are the six symptoms of love shared by one devotee and another.
Ekant or being alone is being with Krishna only. His phone number is of 16 words, this mahamantra. No one has such the largest contact number. By this we can assume that only God can have such a number. when we call, we address someone and then we get response. Addressing means calling out ‘Oh Radhe!’. This language is a very big benefit to us. All our thoughts, culture is in this language.
Do you want be cultured and civilized?
But now a days we find highly educated least cultured people. In the mahamantra, there are 16 names and how many letters? “32”.
You should say that quickly. That is the effect of Kaliyuga. Everyone is slower, Mandah.
Now a days, mobile phones are starts but people are not. Devotees must be smart one.
kṛṣṇa yei bhajei sei hayata catur
māyā jei bhaje sei hayata phatur
Translation:
Those who worship Krsna are indeed the wise. Those who worship māyā are indeed poverty-stricken.
Who worships Krishna is very intelligent. When we chant, we call the lord. We talk to him and another understanding is that lord answers, not that some one else answers. He takes it very seriously. He responds in different ways. Whatever we pray when we chant or do kirtan.
If our chanting is full of offenses the lord is pleased that you are chanting. But how much he is pleased depends upon how we chant. When we chant lord is pleased, if we do kirtan, He is more pleases, and if its Nagar kirtan, it’s even more.
When we chant, we chant for our self. Some benefitted and it is also in a way selfish.
ŚB 7.5.31:
na te viduḥ svārtha-gatiṁ hi viṣṇuṁ
durāśayā ye bahir-artha-māninaḥ
andhā yathāndhair upanīyamānās
te ’pīśa-tantryām uru-dāmni baddhāḥ
Translation:
Persons who are strongly entrapped by the consciousness of enjoying material life, and who have therefore accepted as their leader or guru a similar blind man attached to external sense objects, cannot understand that the goal of life is to return home, back to Godhead, and engage in the service of Lord Viṣṇu. As blind men guided by another blind man miss the right path and fall into a ditch, materially attached men led by another materially attached man are bound by the ropes of fruitive labor, which are made of very strong cords, and they continue again and again in materialistic life, suffering the threefold miseries.
Prahlad Maharaj said, people don’t know how to be really selfish. We think our body as self, our mind as self. Ātmavat manyate jagat. "Everyone thinks others like himself."
Bg. 3.27:
prakṛteḥ kriyamāṇāni
guṇaiḥ karmāṇi sarvaśaḥ
ahaṅkāra-vimūḍhātmā
kartāham iti manyate
Translation:
The spirit soul bewildered by the influence of false ego thinks himself the doer of activities that are in actuality carried out by the three modes of material nature.
A survey was raised that which word is repeated by people. The word was: Me and mine.
Those who are intelligent they know that the self is the soul. For it we don’t do anything. We do for others. This body is others. So, when we chant, we desire the lord.
ŚB 11.5.32:
kṛṣṇa-varṇaṁ tviṣākṛṣṇaṁ
sāṅgopāṅgāstra-pārṣadam
yajñaiḥ saṅkīrtana-prāyair
yajanti hi su-medhasaḥ
Translation:
In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Kṛṣṇa. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Kṛṣṇa Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons and confidential companions.
Lord is more pleased with our kirtan than our japa. Who wants us to get the Lord back? The lord wants us more than we want Him. He is sitting in our heart and waiting for us with this desire. When the child is sad the parents are first to be sad. The parent of the soul is God. If the child is lost of in a foreign land, they may forget, but the parents never forget. So, we can understand God, and His feeling by our own experiences. We are revolving in this cycle of birth, death, old age, and disease. Does he not know this? He knows, we are in this world of misery. He has made it. So, he knows it.
Vithu maza lekurwala sange gopalancha mela
My Vithala is a family man and he has many relations. We see the painting where the lord is seen, holding his devotees like kids. We all are children of the Lord. Modern science says that we evolved from amoeba that evolved into apes and then humans.
There was no amoeba, the very first one is Vithoba. Then Swayam bhu came from Vithoba. But Vedas says that from God came brahma and from him, he created 8400000 species all together. So, we are not coming from apes, but from Krishna. So much misinformation is spread in the world!
if Gaura had not come what would have happened? How would we live this life?
(yadi) gaura nā hoito, tabe ki hoito,
kemane dharita de?
rādhāra mahimā, prema-rasa-sīmā,
jagate jānāta ke
Translation:
If Lord Gaura had not appeared as the yuga-avatara in this age of Kali, then what would have become of us? How could we have tolerated living? Who in this universe would have ever learned about the topmost limits of loving mellows that comprise the glory of Sri Radha?
Her love is limitless, shore less ocean.
CC Antya 20.12:
ceto-darpaṇa-mārjanaṁ bhava-mahā-dāvāgni-nirvāpaṇaṁ
śreyaḥ-kairava-candrikā-vitaraṇaṁ vidyā-vadhū-jīvanam
ānandāmbudhi-vardhanaṁ prati-padaṁ pūrṇāmṛtāsvādanaṁ
sarvātma-snapanaṁ paraṁ vijayate śrī-kṛṣṇa-saṅkīrtanam
Translation:
Let there be all victory for the chanting of the holy name of Lord Kṛṣṇa, which can cleanse the mirror of the heart and stop the miseries of the blazing fire of material existence. That chanting is the waxing moon that spreads the white lotus of good fortune for all living entities. It is the life and soul of all education. The chanting of the holy name of Kṛṣṇa expands the blissful ocean of transcendental life. It gives a cooling effect to everyone and enables one to taste full nectar at every step.
Gaura got that ocean of love and spread it all over the world starting from Mayapur.
avatīrṇe gaura-candre vistīrṇe prema-sāgare
suprakāśita-ratnaughe yo dīno dīna eva saḥ
Translation:
The advent of Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu is just like an expanding ocean of nectar. One who does not collect the valuable jewels within this ocean is certainly the poorest of the poor.
Then many preachers took it out from Mayapur, like channels or canals taking the ocean of love, like it has reached Nagpur today. The goal is to take it to every town and village. Srila Prabhupada said to padayatra so. Not just town and village, but even in between. This is Srila Prabhupada’s mercy on his centennial, we did Padayatra in 100 countries in 1984. We celebrated 40 years of padayatra, 300000 kilometres, 8 circumambulations of the entire earth.
I went to the US in 1978, and I saw for the first time, an ambulance. I thought we are 100 years behind, when Prabhupada had gone there. He saw hippies now all that has come here. When I saw the disease stats I understood where there is enjoyment, disease will come.
Stop being Indians be Bharatiya. Bha means light. One name of sun is Bhaskar means one who gives light. One who is immersed in light is Bha -rat. Our Vedas say go from darkness to light, what going to light? Going to the source of all knowledge and light, that is God.
Srila Prabhupada preached this Krsna Consciousness. He recognized true Bharat and put it on the world map.
India was seen as a beggar’s country. Because every time an Indian came to the west, it was always to take something higher education. They don’t even know that the highest knowledge is spiritual knowledge.
When Prabhupada was asked by a UK reporter, why have you come to our country? He replied: you all came to my country, and looted all the valuables, not just diamonds but even coals, silk, cotton etc. I have not come to take but to give the wealth of my country: The Bhagavad Gita as it is, my culture and the Holy Name.
Hare Krishna Hafe Krishgna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
Today the whole world is benefiting from his contribution, his culture, books, mahamantra, prasad. What is he give to us?
He gave Krishna in our life. Srila Prabhupada gave us Krishna in pour lives. There is a lack of Krishna. We should understand that. So, we should get Krishna and share it to others. You are all capable to give Krishna. So, realise Krishna every day and distribute him. Take it yourself and give it to others.
Srila Prabhupada said, “I could have preached from under a tree, but who would come there? So, I should make a place where people will be attracted,” and so, he made temples.
Srila Prabhupada was asked in 1977, Kumbhamela, “Why are you building more temples, there are so many temples already?”
Prabhupada asked, “who is this with you?”, “my wife and my son” he replied.
Prabhupada said there are many children in the world why you need one more child. He said this is my child. So, there are many temples but this is my temple.
So, you all are helping in building this new temple. The progress is very good. Add more people to this project.
ŚB 10.22.35:
etāvaj janma-sāphalyaṁ
dehinām iha dehiṣu
prāṇair arthair dhiyā vācā
śreya-ācaraṇaṁ sadā
Translation:
It is the duty of every living being to perform welfare activities for the benefit of others with his life, wealth, intelligence and words.
Vaishnava Song by Bhakti Vinod Thakur:
mānasa, deho, geho, jo kichu mor
arpilū tuwā pade, nanda-kiśor!
Translation:
Mind, body, and family, whatever may be mine, I have surrendered at Your lotus feet, O youthful son of Nanda!
We can help with our life, our money, our intelligence, and our words. This is Prabhupada’s desire. Are you all ready to fulfil it?
Hari Bol!
Hare Krishna!
